Online Event: The Military and Pandemics: Early Lessons and Future Actions

June 10, 2020 • 2:00 – 3:00 pm EDT

The U.S. military has taken major steps to augment the civilian medical health care system while at the same time trying to maintain its own operations, including combat training and global deployments. What early lessons can be learned about these efforts? Should the military services restructure themselves to better respond in the future, and, if so, how? Should responding to pandemics be part of the military’s capability portfolio in the future? Please join CSIS’s International Security Program on June 10, 2-3 PM for a discussion on early lessons with LTG David Barno, USA (Ret.), Nora Bensahel, and Melanie Marlowe, moderated by Mark Cancian.

This event was made possible through general support to CSIS.
