Available Downloads
Please join the CSIS Americas Program for a virtual event on opportunities for the creative economies of Guatemala, Haiti, and Colombia, taking into consideration lessons learned from Taiwan.
Taiwan has a number of strategic diplomatic relationships in Latin America, with nine Latin American and Caribbean countries recognizing Taiwan’s independence. Taiwan has made significant strides in growing its economy and becoming an economic success story, as well as a democratic and human rights success story in East Asia. It is also a country that has been working hard to escape the middle income country trap by increasing innovation-led growth, including its creative economy. There are many lessons and opportunities for partnership between Taiwan and Latin American countries who are building and leveraging their own creative economies such as Guatemala, Haiti, and Colombia.
This event will highlight the steps Taiwan, Guatemala, Haiti, and Colombia have taken in growing their creative economies, and explore opportunities for partnerships between Taiwan and Latin America. This event will feature keynote remarks by U.S. Congressman Albio Sires and Ambassador Tah-Ray Yui.
This event was made possible thanks to a generous contribution of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States (TECRO).
