Wednesday, January 18, 2017 10:00 am - 11:30 am
CSIS Headquarters
The CSIS Energy & National Security Program is pleased to invite you to a panel discussion on Power Africa's Understanding Natural Gas & LNG Options handbook with Assistant Secretary Christopher A. Smith, Department of Energy; Jennifer Cooke, Africa Program, CSIS; Deputy Coordinator Sean Jones of Power Africa (U.S. Agency for International Development); and Angelina LaRose, U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). Led by DOE in collaboration with the U.S. Energy Association and drafted by a diverse group of experts, the natural gas handbook aims to foster shared understanding between government officials and private companies on the factors influencing successful natural gas and LNG projects in Africa. The 250-page document covers risk factors of various models and addresses issues around partner alignment, regulatory complicity, finance, and marketing. Angelina LaRose, will discuss the EIA's Natural Gas and LNG Market Outlook, and Sean Jones will discuss the work of Power Africa.
