Join the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) for a call-in press briefing on Wednesday, March 1, at 10:30 a.m. EST to preview China’s upcoming legislative session. China’s annual National People’s Congress (NPC), which opens on Sunday, March 5, will be a significant turning point in Chinese politics and governance. A new set of government leaders—the premier, vice premiers, and cabinet ministers—will be seated, and there will likely be a modest restructuring of the bureaucratic structure. The leadership will try to restore confidence at home and abroad about China’s economy and defend China’s position on national defense and foreign policy issues. During the briefing, CSIS China experts—Freeman Chair Jude Blanchette, Trustee Chair Scott Kennedy, and Senior Fellow Ilaria Mazzocco—will offer a brief synopsis of what to expect, followed by a Q&A session.
Please RSVP to Paige Montfort (pmontfort@csis.org).
