Prospects for U.S.–Japan Cooperation in Development
As Japan’s comprehensive development agency, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has a mandate to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in developing countries. CSIS is pleased to host Dr. Akihiko Tanaka, the new president of JICA, on July 23.
Dr. Tanaka will deliver remarks on his vision for JICA in the years ahead, including the opportunities of continued partnership with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) on food security, global health, and public-private partnerships in Africa. Additionally, Dr. Tanaka will discuss JICA’s engagement on geopolitical priorities including China, Afghanistan, and Myanmar.
Please join us for Dr. Akihiko Tanaka’s first public address in Washington since taking his new leadership role at JICA. A cocktail reception in Dr. Tanaka’s honor will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., following the public forum.
