Public Opinion in Afghanistan
The South Asia Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, in collaboration with the Program on International Policy Attitudes (PIPA), hosted a discussion on public opinion in Afghanistan.
Panel experts were: Stephen Weber, chief operating officer, Center on Policy Attitudes; Seema Patel, consultant, CSIS's Post-Conflict Reconstruction Project; and Ambassador Teresita Schaffer, director of CSIS's South Asia Program. The experts discussed the results of a public opinion poll conducted in Afghanistan in 2006. The survey assessed local Afghan sentiments regarding their personal situation, the Karzai government, attitudes toward the United States and the Taliban.
