The Refugee Crisis and International Organizations

Friday, October 21, 2016 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
CSIS Headquarters

Please join CSIS and the Project on Prosperity and Development for our discussion with Dr. Matthew McGuire, the U.S. Executive Director of the World Bank, on how organizations and development implementers can better coordinate to help solve the growing refugee crisis. Dr. McGuire will be joined by Jon Brause, the Washington Director at the World Food Programme, as well as Nina Nieuwoudt, the Senior Business Leader for Humanitarian and Public Sector affairs at Mastercard.  This diverse panel will describe a great landscape of how diverse agencies work together to solve some of the defining transnational issues of our era: the growing refugee crises.

Out of this event, we hope to create some recommendations through which partnership can curb displacement rates around the world. Role Definition and comparative advantage will take center stage as we welcome Dr. McGuire and other leaders from NGOs, international organizations, and the private sector who strive to end this global emergency.
