In this new era of great power competition, the Global South is rising on the geopolitical agenda and emerging as a pivotal battleground for influence and prosperity in the 21st century. Yet, the Global South is a difficult term to define and the region is not monolithic. Understanding the diverse perspectives of Global South leaders is critical to developing strategic policy and forging lasting partnerships that foster security and long-term economic growth.
The CSIS Project on Prosperity and Development is honored to welcome ambassadors from several countries that might consider themselves part of or adjacent to the Global South to ask a fundamental question: “What sort of partnership do they want today with the United States and what sort of partnership do they seek with others?” Please join CSIS for this timely conversation, featuring Ambassador Yerzhan Ashikbayev of Kazakhstan and Ambassador Chibamba Kanyama of Zambia.
