The Role of National Oil Companies in Methane Reductions

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is pleased to host this event examining the role of national oil companies (NOCs) in reducing global methane emissions. It will provide an opportunity to discuss announcements at COP28, as well as a look ahead to post-COP implementation. 

Zubin Bamji, Manager, World Bank's Global Flaring and Methane Reduction Partnership, and Santiago Martínez Ochoa, Head of Sustainability and Decarbonization, Ecopetrol will discuss NOCs’ share of oil and gas methane emissions, their progress in sharing more data and setting methane reduction targets, and the need for technical and financial support for methane abatement. Ben Cahill, Senior Fellow, Energy Security and Climate Change Program, CSIS will moderate.
