The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Global Health Policy Center and International Security Program jointly hosted the Honorable S. Ward Casscells, MD., Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs. He delivered a major address on the role of the U.S. military in global health, lessons learned, and opportunities for the military's future expanded efforts. Dr. Casscells also spoke about the military's role in disaster medicine and pandemic preparedness, as well as military-to-military capacity building in public health.
