Please join the CSIS Russia and Eurasia Program and the CSIS Proliferation Prevention Program for a discussion of the current controversy over the INF Treaty, which has intensified over the past year following official U.S. allegations of Russian treaty violations. These allegations stem from reports that Russia has developed and tested a new ground-launched cruise missile that operates within ranges prohibited by the INF Treaty. In response, the Russians have accused the U.S. of engaging in activities that also violate the INF Treaty. The stakes in this dispute are significant, not only for the future of U.S.-Russian relations, but for European and Asian security and for the preservation of the arms control regime more generally.
