Safety on the New Silk Road: Assessing Kazakhstan’s Highways

Friday, June 16, 2017 10:00 am - 11:30 am
CSIS Headquarters

Asia’s infrastructure push offers opportunities to minimize road accidents, which cost many developing countries 2-5 percent of GDP each year. That’s particularly true in Kazakhstan, which is a keystone for regional connectivity initiatives, from the UN’s Asian Highway Network to China's Belt and Road Initiative. Please join us for the launch of a new CSIS Reconnecting Asia report, "Safety on the New Silk Road: Assessing Kazakhstan’s Highways," and expert discussion about how better infrastructure can improve road safety and regional connectivity.
