Saudi Arabia's Strategic Energy Initiative: Safeguarding Against Supply Disruptions

CSIS's Energy Program hosted Nawaf Obaid, managing director of the Saudi National Security Assessment Project, to discuss the Saudi Strategic Energy Initiative. 

Nawaf Obaid is also the private security and energy advisor to Prince Turki al-Faisal, the Saudi Ambassador to the United States. He is the author of The Oil Kingdom at 100: Petroleum Policymaking in Saudi Arabia (Washington Institute for Near East Policy, 2000). He also is an adjunct fellow with CSIS's Burke Chair in Strategy. He co-authored with Anthony Cordesman, who holds the Burke Chair, National Security in Saudi Arabia: Threats, Responses, and Challenges (Praeger & CSIS Publications, September 30, 2005).
