The Covid-19 pandemic continues to consume the international community and governments are grappling with best next steps and strategies. As cases in the United States continue to decline and the Biden Administration continues to loosen restrictions, our international neighbors are suffering. India is experiencing a tragic peak in numbers right now, with death toll projections reaching up to 1.4 million by September 1st, 2021.
In this Schieffer Series, an expert panel will discuss the future of the global vaccine gap and the strategy that the Biden administration, the United Nations, and the World Health Organization are working on to deal with Covid-19 globally.
Jeremy Konyndyk, executive director of USAID’s Covid-19 Task Force, will open with a keynote address. Following his statement, he will join Julie Gerberding, executive vice president and chief patient officer of Merck, Gary Edson, president of the COVID Collaborative and a principal of Civic Enterprises, and J. Stephen Morrison, senior vice president and director of CSIS’s Global Health Policy Center, for the panel discussion. CSIS Chief Communications Officer, H. Andrew Schwartz, will moderate this in-depth conversation on the next phase of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In honor of and previously hosted by CBS News legend and CSIS Trustee Bob Schieffer, the Schieffer Series features thoughtful panel discussions with senior officials, lawmakers, journalists, and policy experts to discuss global challenges and critical issues of national security and foreign policy.
Now in its 12th consecutive year, the Schieffer Series is produced by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in partnership with the Bob Schieffer College of Communication at Texas Christian University (TCU) in Fort Worth, Texas.
