Securing Critical Minerals Supply Chains

April 23, 2021 • 9:00 – 10:00 am EDT

The CSIS’s Energy Security & Climate Change program is pleased to invite you to a presentation and discussion of The Geopolitics of Critical Minerals Supply Chains, a new report on the geopolitics of rare earth & critical minerals supply chains.

Due to rising competition from China, clean energy technologies have become a new frontier of geoeconomic rivalry and the competition over their component minerals is increasing. Covid-19 has further exposed the fragility of critical minerals supply chains and its implications on national security. This conversation will center on the strategies and actions taken by countries worldwide to enhance the security of critical minerals supply chains.

Following a presentation on the CSIS report highlights by Jane Nakano (Senior Fellow, CSIS’s Energy Security & Climate Change Program), the event will feature a panel discussion with Andrew Miller, Benchmark Minerals Intelligence; Andrew DeWit, Rikkyo University’s School of Economic Policy Studies; and Marco Giuli, Free University of Brussels.

This event is made possible by general support to CSIS and the CSIS Energy Security & Climate Change Program.
