The State of the Indo-Pacific Clean Energy Transition
The CSIS Energy & National Security and Southeast Asia programs invite you to the Indo-Pacific Renewable Energy Forum featuring Nawal Kamel (ASEAN Energy Market Integration Initiative), Craig Glazer (PJM Interconnection), Yanfei Li (Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia), Jaquelin Cochran (National Renewable Energy Laboratory), Jayne Somers (USAID), Benjamin Attia (Wood Mackenzie), and Huong Mai Nguyen (World Bank).
The forum will focus on grid regionalization and clean energy financing in Southeast Asia. The first discussion will explore lessons learned from other grid regionalization efforts, how interconnection between countries might affect the integration of renewable energy, and the financial, technical, and policy considerations that go into successful regional grid interconnection. This will be followed by discussion on financing the clean energy transition in the region. The speakers will explore the financing scope and needs of clean energy projects—particularly renewable energy projects—and the role of governments, national/multinational development banks, and the private sector in meeting the financial need of these projects.
This forum is the final of three events this year focused on renewable energy in Southeast Asia under the CSIS-Pertamina Southeast Asia Energy Initiative.
This event is made possible by the generous support of Pertamina.
