Taiwan’s January 2012 Presidential and Legislative Elections

On January 17, the Freeman Chair in China Studies at CSIS and the Center for Northeast Asian Policy Studies (CNAPS) at Brookings hosted a public seminar analyzing the results of Taiwan's January 14 presidential and legislative elections.
The seminar featured speakers from across Taiwan's political spectrum, as well as experts from the United States, China, and United Kingdom. Panelists analyzed the results of the election, identifying pressing policy issues for the winning presidential candidate, and exploring how the results may affect cross-Strait relations.
