Technology-Strategy Seminar: Electromagnetic Pulse

November 6, 2013 • 12:00 – 2:00 pm EST

Featuring Ambassador Henry Cooper, former Director of the U.S. Strategic Defense Initiative Organization, Dr. George Baker, former head of the Defense Nuclear Agency’s EMP program and member of the Congressional EMP Commission Staff, and Dr. Rich Wagner, Nonresident Senior Advisor at CSIS

The next PONI Technology-Strategy Seminar will focus on the threats posed by the electromagnetic pulse (EMP) that would be produced by high altitude nuclear explosions, as well as by certain natural phenomena, and what can be done to mitigate these threats. These concerns have generated considerable controversy over the last several years. The event will feature a panel discussion between Ambassador Henry Cooper and Dr. George Baker, both recognized experts on EMP and strategies for dealing with it. Dr. Rich Wagner will moderate the discussion.

Please join us on November 6, 12pm-2pm, for the next event in PONI’s The Technology-Strategy Seminar series, which addresses nuclear-related topics at the intersection of science/technology and policy/strategy. The event will be held in room 110 at CSIS’s new building at 1616 Rhode Island Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20036.  A light lunch will be provided. This event is off-the-record.
