Western Hemisphere democracies gathering in Cartagena, Colombia for the Sixth Summit of the Americas had the opportunity to discuss progress in overcoming hurdles to greater inclusion among different socioeconomic groups.  What progress was achieved and what significant commitments were made to reduce some of the inequalities in the hemisphere? Join us for a discussion with the President's Ambassador-at Large for Global Women's Issues and the State Department's Americas Summit Coordinator for a timely retrospective of proposed solutions involving the private sector, foundations, and educational institutions, as well as an overview of initiatives centering on women entrepreneurs.

Meridian's Council on Women's Leadership brings together leaders from diverse fields who have a shared interest in impacting the economic and political empowerment of women around the world.  It is based at Meridian International Center, one of the most respected professional and cultural exchange institutions in the United States.  Meridian is a major partner with the U.S. Department of State in structuring and implementing the International Visitors Leadership Program.
