Trans-Pacific Partnership: A Canadian Perspective

The Trans-Pacific Partnership Speaker Series
Thursday, September 20, 2012 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Center for Strategic and International StudiesConference Room B1-C1800 K Street, NWWashington DC, 20006

 Trans-Pacific Partnership Speaker Series

“Trans-Pacific Partnership: A Canadian Perspective”

 Keynote address by:
The Honorable John Manley, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives

Introduction by:
Scott Miller, Senior Adviser and William M. Scholl Chair in International Business, CSIS

Moderated by:
Murray Hiebert, Deputy Director and Senior Fellow, Southeast Asia Program, CSIS

CSIS hosts a discussion with The Honorable John Manley as part of the CSIS speaker series entitled "Canada in the Pacific Century: TPP and Beyond." This speaker series seeks to explore issues of trade as well as the overall role and influence of the United States in the Asia-Pacific region.

In light of the recent Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings, and agreement to join TPP talks by Mexico and Canada, there is renewed momentum surrounding these trade negotiations. We would be delighted if you could join us for the address with Mr. Manley, followed by an on-the record discussion about Canada’s role in the Asia-Pacific.

John Manley is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives. He had an outstanding career in politics and was a former Deputy Prime Minister of Canada. He is active in public policy and the private sector, and a speaker and adviser to governments of differing political stripes

CSIS would like to recognize and share special thanks with the companies who have contributed to the TPP Speaker Series, Google, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Pfizer, and Procter & Gamble.
