Transatlantic Dialogue on Muslims in Europe: Dealing With, and Looking Beyond the Terrorist Threat
The event took place in Berlin and brought together European and American experts to examine the question of integration of Europe’s Muslim communities, especially as it relates to the phenomenon of radicalization throughout the continent. Panelists looked at demographic trends within Europe's Muslim communities; the impact of Islamophobia; Germany's Muslim community; the role of gender in Jihad; contests of Islamisms; and Muslim reactions to Europe's counterterrorism policies. The conference also included a keynote address by Tariq Ramadan, President of the European Muslim Network and Senior Research Fellow at Oxford University.
