Transatlantic Rendezvous
On May 30, the Europe Program, in partnership with the Brussels-based Friends of Europe, the Security and Defense Agenda, the Gallup Organization, and the Delegation of the European Commission to the United States, co-hosted a transatlantic security debate on EU and U.S. homeland security policies, titled "Can the U.S. and Europe Fashion Common Approaches to Homeland Security? "
The conference took place at Gallup headquarters in Washington, D.C., as a simultaneous satellite broadcast among U.S. panelists in Washington and their European counterparts in Brussels. Discussion focused on past divergences in U.S. and European approaches to homeland security, as well as areas for potential future cooperation in this field. The event was accompanied by the release of a Gallup poll, studying the views of U.S. and European experts on the future of transatlantic security.
