Turkey after the Presidential and Parliamentary Elections
The meeting focused on likely developments in Turkey after the parliamentary elections on July 22 and the election of a new president on August 28. The keynote presentation was made by Rifat Hisarciklioglu, the President of the Turkish Chambers of Commerce (TOBB), who was introduced by Dr. Hamre, the President of CSIS. The first panel, Political Outlook, was chaired by Nelson Ledsky, the Director of NDI Eurasia Programs, and featured Fehmi Koru of Yeni Safak; Murat Yetkin of Radikal and Yalcin Dogan of Hurriyet. The second panel, Economic Outlook, was chaired by Bulent Aliriza, the Director of the CSIS Turkey Project, and featured Guven Sak, the Director of the Economic Policy Research Institute and Executive Director of TEPAV and Sureyya Serdengecti, the Director of the Economic Stability Institute, TEPAV.
