Critical minerals are a vital part of the contemporary U.S.-India relationship. The Indian government is implementing policies to enhance domestic production and processing of these minerals, aiming to bolster its position in global supply chains. As a strategic ally, India plays an important role in reducing the United States' dependence on China for essential critical minerals. Notably, India was the first developing nation to join the U.S. Department of State's Minerals Security Partnership, and the two governments have recently signed a memorandum of understanding to expand and diversify critical minerals supply chains.
