USAID Administrator Power on the State of Global Food Security and Nutrition

The “perfect storm” of Covid-19, climate change, and conflict resulted in at least 276 million acutely food insecure people - a historic high - at the start of 2022. This number could reach 323 million this year because of the impacts of Russia’s war in Ukraine. Most vulnerable are children: One new child is affected by wasting - the deadliest form of malnutrition - every 60 seconds, and every 11 seconds, a child dies.

On July 18, CSIS and the Eleanor Crook Foundation are pleased to welcome USAID Administrator Samantha Power for a major address on the state of global food security and nutrition. The Administrator will share bold steps the U.S. government is taking to combat the worsening hunger and malnutrition crisis for the world’s most vulnerable. The Administrator will be joined by senior representatives from private philanthropy pursuing public-private investment in the fight against hunger and malnutrition.

The event will take place in person, and a livestream link is available.

Those who wish to attend in-person are required to register in advance. All registrants are asked to arrive 30 minutes prior to the event in order to secure seating, as registration does not guarantee seating at the event.
