Using Data to Drive Better Global Health Impacts

Monday, November 22, 2010 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Center for Strategic and International Studies 1800 K Street, NW Washington DC, 20006

Better measurement and use of data is essential to the success of global health programs. The U.S. government, as part of its Global Heath Initiative, has placed renewed emphasis on improving metrics, monitoring and evaluation. At the same time, new pioneering approaches have already yielded valuable lessons for how to better use data to improve program performance.

Gina Dallabetta discusses practical approaches to data use and measurement to inform scale up and evaluation that the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has applied in its HIV prevention programs in India and how these techniques could be expanded across a variety of global health programs. Ruth Levine previews USAID's latest thinking on impact evaluation in health. Questions and comments from the audience will follow.

Featuring

Gina Dallabetta, Senior Program Officer, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
Ruth Levine, Deputy Assistant Administrator, Bureau of Policy, Planning and Learning, USAID
