US's Role on Post Conflict Countries
Amb. Carlos Pascual, recently appointed coordinator of the Office of Reconstruction and Stabilization at the State Depart. outlined how the new office will coordinate U.S. responses in failed, failing, and post-conflict countries at CSIS on Oct. 20. During his hour-long presentation, he explained the role and mandate of the reconstruction office, which was created on Sept. 28 to help stabilize and rebuild societies in transition from conflict or civil strife so they can reach a sustainable path toward peace, democracy and a market economy.
