USTR General Counsel Tim Reif: Update on U.S. Trade Enforcement
In addition to its lead role negotiating and implementing new trade agreements, the Office of the United State Trade Representative is charged with the enforcement of existing trade rules and agreements. To enforce the rules of U.S. bilateral, regional, and multilateral free trade agreements, USTR uses dispute settlement procedures, applies the full range of U.S. trade laws when appropriate, and is a vigilant monitor of evolving market access barriers facing U.S. exports. USTR also defends U.S. trade laws and regulations from legal challenge by our trading partners in the WTO.
Tim Reif
General Counsel, USTR
