What are the Benefits of International Space Cooperation?

December 18, 2024 • 2:00 – 3:00 pm EST

Brought to you by

Fifty nations have signed the U.S.-led Artemis Accords, a set of non-binding principles on norms of behaviors for the peaceful use of outer space, with a focus on the Moon. The Accords are related to the Artemis Program, an effort led by NASA to return astronauts to the Moon and establish a long-term lunar presence. Both of these initiatives are just the most prominent examples of how the United States and other partners are collaborating on space science and exploration. This event will explore the future of peaceful international cooperation in space, discussing trends, opportunities, and challenges on the horizon.

Please join the CSIS Aerospace Security Project on Wednesday, December 18, at 2:00pm EST for a virtual-only panel discussion on these topics featuring Brent Blevins, Staff Director, Space and Aeronautics Subcommittee, U.S. House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology; Dr. Aleksandra Bukała, Director, Strategy and International Cooperation, Polish Space Agency; and Ramzi Masri-Elyafaoui, Government Affairs Manager, Axiom Space. The panel will be moderated by Clayton Swope, Deputy Director of the Aerospace Security Project at CSIS.

This event is made possible by general support to the Aerospace Security Project.
