Why We Fight: A Conversation with Dr. Chris Blattman

September 7, 2022 • 10:00 – 11:00 am EDT

The CSIS Project on Fragility and Mobility is hosting Dr. Chris Blattman to discuss the underlying causes of conflict and remedies for war. Dr. Blattman recently published his new book, Why We Fight: The Roots of War and the Paths to Peace which draws on decades of research on economics, political science, psychology, and real-world interventions to lay out the root causes and remedies for war. Dr. Blattman will share his findings that show how violence is not the norm, articulate five reasons why conflict wins over compromise, and provide recommendations to shift incentives away from violence and get parties back to peacemaking.

This event is made possible through general support to CSIS.
