World Energy China Outlook

Tuesday, February 25, 2014 6:00 pm - 7:15 pm
Center for Strategic and International Studies2nd Floor Conference Room1616 Rhode Island Avenue, NWWashington, DC 20036

The CSIS Energy and National Security Program hosted Xiaojie Xu, head of the World Energy Division at the Institute of World Economics and Politics, part of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing, to present the World Energy China Outlook. The outlook, an annual report, examines world energy trends from China's perspective, addresses energy development in China (and the global repercussions thereof), and provides energy policy recommendations for the Chinese government. This year's outlook addresses a variety of topics including unconventional gas production in China, renewable energy development, and the increasing need for a 'social license' for energy projects.

Xiaojie Xu, Chief Fellow of the annual World Energy China Outlook, is the head of the World Energy Division at the Institute of World Economics and Politics at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing. Previously, Mr. Xu  worked as the Director of the Institute of Overseas Investment Research at the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC). He has advised the National Energy Administration on domestic and international oil and gas policy and has advised CNPC and CNOOC on global expansion with a particular focus on geopolitical, economic, commercial, regulatory and contractual issues as well as business development and risk management.
