Mark T. Fung

Mark T. Fung is a practicing attorney in New York. He previously served as executive vice president and general counsel of Dandong Port Co., Ltd., a Hong Kong-registered holding company that acquires and operates global port and infrastructure assets. He is also currently a fellow at the Harvard University Asia Center, where his scholarly interests include China’s financial system, U.S.-China relations, and Chinese politics.
Previously, Dr. Fung served as general counsel of the China-Africa Development Fund. Dr. Fung’s professional involvement in China dates back to serving under Dr. Zbigniew Brzezinski as chief China researcher, identifying and tracking China's political and strategic trends as well as analyses of Chinese leadership transitions. Dr. Fung holds a Ph.D., with distinction, in China studies and an M.A. in international economics and strategic studies from Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS); a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School, where he was a member of the Journal of Law and Policy; and a B.A. from New York University, where he double majored in politics (honors) and East Asian studies. He also did postdoctoral work at the Fairbank Center at Harvard University. Dr. Fung serves on the Board of Trustees at New York University and on the Harvard University Ezra Vogel Fellows Advisory Committee and Board of Advisors of the Asian American Bar Association of New York. He is a member at the Council on Foreign Relations and the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations, both in New York. He is admitted to the New York, New Jersey, and Washington, D.C., bars.
