WASHINGTON, April 5, 2021: The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is pleased to announce that Jake Harrington has joined the International Security Program as intelligence fellow. His research at CSIS will focus on intelligence, technology, and irregular warfare.

“Jake is an outstanding researcher with a strong track record of objective analysis on a range of intelligence, technology, and counterterrorism issues,” said Seth G. Jones, CSIS vice president and director of the International Security Program.

Harrington returns to CSIS after more than a decade with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), where he supported the Bureau’s national security mission in a variety of roles. He most recently was detailed to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) Office of Legislative Affairs, where he managed the legislative engagement portfolio for the National Counterterrorism Center and other ODNI components. From 2018 to 2020, Harrington was the special assistant to the FBI chief information officer, where he focused on enterprise information technology modernization and cybersecurity. From 2010 to 2018, he was an intelligence analyst in the FBI Counterterrorism and Counterintelligence Divisions and advised senior FBI executives on a wide range of strategy, management, and intelligence matters.

Before joining the FBI, Harrington served as a research associate in the CSIS International Security Program. While at CSIS, he staffed the Independent Commission on the Security Forces of Iraq and spent a year detailed to the Pentagon in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy. Prior to joining the Center in 2005, he was a legislative correspondent in the office of Senator Susan Collins (R-ME).
