CSIS Alumni Memorandum - May 2010
May 3, 2010
Greetings from Washington… Well our winter was tough this year, with over 75 inches of snow. But as a reward, we now have a glorious spring in Washington. We hope you are enjoying equally nice weather wherever you are.
Building Update… Things are proceeding well with our building. We recently met with a company that does risk ratings. It is an important step for us to get a formal risk rating for purposes of issuing tax exempt bonds to build our new headquarters. All aspects of our project are coming into focus. We have concluded the design and have excellent construction documents. We worked with a local builder to know exactly what it will cost to build the building and we are well within our budget. Fundraising is going well. We are over the half-way point of our goal in a tough market. The next half will be a bit harder to land. Fortunately, we have excellent opportunities, so we are optimistic. Assuming our fundraising goes well, we will ask the CSIS Board of Trustees to permit the go-ahead for construction at the end of the year. Actual ground-breaking will take place sometime next spring, but things are moving well.
