Democratic Governance and Economic Growth in Ghana

The U.S. Institute of Peace and the CSIS Africa Program hosted a discussion with:

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo: Former Minister of Foreign Affairs Ghana 
Co-moderated by:

  • Raymond Gilpin: ​Director, USIP Center for Economies and Conflict
  • J. Stephen Morrison: Director, CSIS Africa Program

Mr. Akufo Addo is former Ghanaian Minister of Foreign Affairs and a presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party in Ghana’s upcoming elections, slated for December 2008.  He addressed the nexus between democratic governance and economic progress, using Ghana’s experience as a case study.
