Trade Policy and Its' Role in the 2004 Elections
Rep. David Dreier (R-Calif.) (l), chairman of the House Rules Committee, and Rep. Sander Levin (D-Mich) (r) debated trade policy and discuss its role in the 2004 elections at CSIS on Tuesday, June 8. "Comparative advantage makes it clear that people are going to do what they do best…," Dreier said. "Today we are well into our second economic transformation from that heavy industrial economy to our twenty-first century [service] economy. This time, the transformation is taking place far more quickly…We could either try to stop millions of jobs from being phased out, or we could focus on creating even more jobs."
