CSIS hosted a book launch for

U.S. Peacefare: Organizing American Peacebuilding Operations

U.S. Peacefare offers critical insights into the U.S. agencies responsible for dealing with states at risk due to conflict, insecurity, and disaster, including USAID, Department of State, Department of Defense, and the National Security Council.  Join us for a discussion on how these agencies can improve coordination and cooperation to strengthen U.S. conflict management and responses to catastrophes.

The panel featured:

Ambassador Dane Smith, Jr., Author and former U.S. Ambassador to Senegal and Guinea, and Special Presidential Envoy for Liberia

Lieutenant General John F. Sattler, Director for Strategic Plans and Policy, J-5, The Joint Staff, United States Marine Corps

James Kunder, Senior Resident Fellow at the German Marshall Fund of the United States, former Deputy Administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development, and instructor in the S/CRS "Foundations" course for Civilian Response Corps members at the Department of State Foreign Service Institute

Laura Hall, Council on Foreign Relations International Affairs Fellow (in residence at Stimson Center), former director of training and doctrine in US Department of State Office of the Coordinator for Reconstruction and Stabilization (S/CRS) and former Director for Stability Operations, National Security Council
