USAID’s Development Innovation Ventures: Investing in Game-Changing Ideas

Moderated by

Daniel F. Runde, Director of the Project on Prosperity and Development and Schreyer Chair in Global Analysis, Center for Strategic and International Studies

In a more austere era for international development, innovative and cost-effective solutions are in greater demand than ever. Supporting innovation in development has been an important part of USAID’s history going back to the Green Revolution.  The bi-partisan HELP Commission in 2007 recommended creating a “DARPA for development.”  In an effort to increase investments in game-changing innovations the U.S Agency for development launched the Development Innovation Ventures (DIV) program in October of 2010. Through DIV, USAID provides grants to new development solutions and tests them to find those ideas that will bring sustainable change to millions of lives.

CSIS welcomes you to join us for a discussion on how we can tap into exciting solutions to key development issues from anyone, anywhere.
