Congressional Forum on Islam: Is Islam a Threat?
Thomas A. Dine is the acting chairman of the board of Freedom House. Most recently he was chief executive officer of the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties. Previously he was president of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty in Prague, a position he held for eight years. From 1980-1993, he was executive director of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). He worked for four years as an assistant administrator at the Agency for International Development, and for a decade as a foreign policy aide on Capitol Hill. Early in his career, he served at the American Embassy in New Delhi, India, and as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Philippines. Dine has published widely in the press, as well as in specialized foreign policy journals, and has edited two books. He is currently part of a Search for Common Ground initiative that is working on reversing negative relations between the United States and Syria.
