PONI 2012 Capstone Conference
The Capstone Conference of the 2012 PONI Series will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at United States Strategic Command (STRATCOM) in Omaha, Nebraska. The one-day conference will feature five panels, breakfast, lunch, and an evening reception at the end of the day, as well as keynote addresses from CSIS President & former deputy secretary of defense Dr. John Hamre and STRATCOM Commander General Robert Kehler.
The conference program, seen on the right, will provide a detailed schedule of presentations, selected speakers, and key events.
Registration is now closed unless you have a DOD identification card (Pentagon badges don't count).
PONI has reserved a block of rooms on base at The Offutt Inn for the event. Reservations can be made by calling 402-294-3671 and using Confirmation #20470094500. The cutoff to book a room under the PONI block is March 11, 2013.
Staying on-base is the best option for conference guests. However, there are other hotels in the area, including a Hampton Inn, Microtel, and Holiday Inn (among others).
The PONI Conference Series, now in its ninth year, offers an opportunity for rising experts in the field to present findings from their research in order to advance the broader discussion on nuclear weapons issues. It also seeks to provide a venue for interaction among people from different sectors and for mid-career and senior members of the community to mentor their junior counterparts. This year’s series has included a spring conference at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, a summer conference at Los Alamos National Laboratory, and a fall conference at CSIS.
