PONI 2014 Fall Conference

Wednesday, August 27, 2014 7:45 am -
Thursday, August 28, 2014 5:00 pm

The second event of the 2014-2015 PONI Conference Series will be held August 27-28 at the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, Kirtland AFB, New Mexico.

The two-day conference will feature panels of presentations from young nuclear experts covering topics such as the nuclear triad and modernization, deterrence in the twenty-first century, arms control and verification, regional nuclear dynamics, and nonproliferation and nuclear security. The conference will also include a keynote address by Major General David Thompson, Director of Plans and Policy, U.S. Strategic Command; remarks from Major General Sandra Finan, Commander, Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center; breakfast and lunch both days and an evening reception and dinner at the end of Day One (August 27); a break-out small group discussion session; and an optional tour on the afternoon of Day Two (August 28).

Registration for the conference is closed.

The PONI Conference Series, now in its eleventh year, offers an opportunity for rising experts in the field to present findings from their research in order to advance the broader discussion on nuclear weapons issues. It also seeks to provide a venue for interaction among individuals from different sectors and for mid-career and senior members of the community to mentor their junior counterparts. This year’s series will feature three regional conferences and a Capstone Conference at U.S. Strategic Command in Omaha, Nebraska.
