Banyan Tree Leadership Forum: Aligning with Indonesia: The Future of Southeast Asia’s Largest Economy

CSIS is pleased to invite you to join the Banyan Tree Leadership Forum for an important presentation by Gita Wirjawan. He will talk about Indonesia, its economy and its top priorities. Mr. Wirjawan will provide insights on how investors can maximize their opportunities in Indonesia. The U.S.–Indonesia relationship has received significant attention from leaders of both countries in the past two years. Indonesia plays a critical role as the chair of ASEAN, the convener of the East Asia Summit and member of the G-20. The Comprehensive Partnership established between the two countries in 2010 is intended to strengthen bilateral relations, including address in opportunities to enhance trade and investment.

Chairman Wirjawan will provide insights into Indonesia’s economic priorities and plans, and will share a vision for the future role of Indonesia in ASEAN, Asia and globally.

Prior to its current post in the cabinet, Gita Wirjawan is the Co-Founder and Co-Chairman of Ancora Capital Management, a private equity fund with primary investments focusing on the natural resources and mining sector. Prior to founding Ancora Capital, he was the Vice Chairman and President Director of JP Morgan Indonesia from 2006 to 2008. He also established Ancora Foundation, a philanthropy organization engaged primarily in the education of Indonesian youths, including providing them the opportunity to study at ivy league universities around the world.

Mr. Wirjawan earned his Master in Public Administration (MPA) from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government in 2000.
