Join us for Careers in Development with Wade Warren. Mr. Warren will speak about how USAID aims to support the strengthening of health systems in Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. He will share first-hand accounts of his work at USAID on the Ebola crisis and the need for long-term resilience against epidemics and improved provision of basic health services. Mr. Warren will also offer advice to young professionals who may be interested in working in global health or with USAID.
Mr. Warren currently serves as senior deputy assistant administrator in the Bureau for Global Health. He has responsibility for strategic planning, budgeting, procurement, human resources, project design, monitoring and evaluation, and communications. Prior to this assignment, Warren was the acting chief operating officer of the State Department’s Office of the Director of U.S. Foreign Assistance, where he had overall responsibility for strategic planning, budgeting, program planning and performance reporting for $32 billion annually in foreign assistance. Warren also worked for 13 years for USAID’s Bureau for Africa, serving in Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Washington, D.C. In Washington, he served as the director of the Africa Bureau’s Office of Development Planning and as the Bureau’s acting deputy assistant administrator. Warren received his undergraduate degree in history from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in 1981 and his graduate degree in international business from the Thunderbird School of Global Management in 1990.
