Congressional Forum on Islam: Are the Radicals Winning? with Martin Kramer

Tuesday, June 3, 2008 8:00 am - 8:00 am

Islamists' understanding of the West is often as filled with bias, ignorance, and preconceived notions as Westerners' understanding of the Middle East. Martin Kramer will dissect these notions and explore their consequences for U.S. security and U.S. relations with the Arab world, and what the U.S. should do about it.

Martin Kramer concurrently serves as a senior fellow at the Shalem Center in Jerusalem, the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, and Harvard’s Olin Institute. An authority on contemporary Islam and Arab politics, Dr. Kramer earned his undergraduate and doctoral degrees in Near Eastern Studies from Princeton University. Among many books, he has written Ivory Towers on Sand: The Failure of Middle Eastern Studies in America.
