Jim Della-Giacoma oversees ICG’s work in Southeast Asia, including staff based in Indonesia, Thailand, and Timor-Leste. He has lived and worked in the region since 1991.  He joined ICG in 2009.  Prior to that he was the Associate Director at the Conflict Prevention and Peace Forum in New York, senior advisor with the National Democratic Institute, NDI Timor-Leste (East Timor) country director, UN political affairs officer in New York, Dili, and Jakarta as well as a correspondent with AFP & Reuters in Jakarta. Among other things, he has researched and written on citizen participation, conflict prevention, corruption, democratization, elections, radicalization, and security sector reform.
