Discussion on UK Energy Policy
The CSIS Energy Program hosted William Rickett, Director General, Energy at the Department of Trade and Industry, UK. Mr. Rickett held a discussion on UK energy policy and implications for security of energy supplies, international energy policy and the growth of new energy technologies.
Mr. Rickett was recently appointed to the post of Director General by the Prime Minister in January and will take up the post as of March 6th. Previously, he held several Director General posts at the Department for Transport and the Cabinet Office. For the past year he has been working on secondment at Ernst and Young's advisory services business. Mr. Rickett began his career at the former Department for Energy, where he worked on the privatization of the electricity industry and became Director General of the Energy Efficiency Office.
