Arab Public Opinion and Perceptions of Violence

Fares Braizat, a visiting fellow in the CSIS Middle East Program, examined trends in Arab public opinion regarding the use of violence by militant Islamist groups. Using extensive polling data, Braizat argued that support for such tactics is declining and that most Arabs don’t support violent Islamist movements when active in their own countries.
