Global Supply Chains

Development Opportunities and Ethical Responsibilities
Monday, May 7, 2012 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Center for Strategic and International Studies1800 K Street, NWWashington DC, 20006

Featuring

Pamela Passman
President & CEO, The Center for Responsible
Enterprise and Trade (CREATe.org)

Ben Heineman
Senior Fellow at the Belfer Center for Science
and International Affairs, Harvard University

Emerging markets are essential to the sustained success of U.S. manufacturers and service providers, but the growth of complex global supply chains to feed these markets can present ethical challenges including corruption, bribery, and theft of intellectual property.

Can private sector registries and certifications foster a more consistent culture of compliance throughout these international supplier networks?

Please join us for a panel discussion with Pamela Passman, founding president and CEO of CREATe.org and Ben Heineman, senior fellow at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard University.

Passman served previously as corporate vice president and deputy general counsel at Microsoft where she was responsible for regulatory compliance, public policy, corporate citizenship, and corporate philanthropy.  Heineman is a trustee and distinguished senior advisor at CSIS. He previously served as the senior vice president for law and public affairs at General Electric where he led anticorruption and corporate citizenship programs.
