2012 PONI Summer Conference at Los Alamos National Laboratory

Wednesday, June 27, 2012 12:00 pm -
Thursday, June 28, 2012 9:00 pm
Los Alamos National Laboratory 1350 Central, MS C330 Los Alamos, NM 87545

The second conference of the 2012 PONI series will be held on June 27th and 28th at the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), which carries out scientific research and technology development to ensure the safety and reliability of the U.S nuclear arsenal, in addition to supporting other national security and nonproliferation objectives.

The event will also feature keynote addresses by prominent experts in the field, technical briefings from LANL scientists, and tours of some of the laboratory’s facilities, including the Dual Axis Radiographic Hydrodynamic Test (DARHT) facility. It will also include an evening reception and dinner for participants at the conclusion of day one (June 27th). The conference program provides a detailed schedule of presentations, selected speakers, and key events.

Registration for the conference is available here. Registration ends by COB on June 18th, 2012!

The Buffalo Thunder Resort & Casino, located at 30 Buffalo Thunder Trail in Santa Fe, NM, will serve as the host hotel for the event.

Reservations can be made by calling 1-800-HILTONS (44586670) and asking for the group code “CSIS” or, by directly accessing the Hilton/PONI conference reservation site available here. Final deadline for the PONI conference hotel block is June 14th.

The PONI Conference Series, now in its ninth year, offers an opportunity for rising experts in the field to present findings from their research in order to advance the broader discussion on nuclear weapons issues. It also seeks to provide a venue for interaction among people from different sectors and for mid-career and senior members of the community to mentor their junior counterparts. Last year’s series included three 2-day events at the Nevada National Security Site, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and the Center for Strategic and International Studies respectively, and concluded with a year-end Capstone Conference hosted by U.S. Strategic Command in Omaha, Nebraska.
