Transforming Global Food Security

Preventing Famine through Improved Technological Innovation
Wednesday, May 11, 2016 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
CSIS Headquarters

Join the CSIS Global Food Security Project and international development community thought leaders to explore how recent technological advances can help to create a more food-secure world.

Food scarcity and fragility both lead to and are complicated by political, economic, and social crises. Such destabilizing outcomes highlight the need to leverage improvements in real-time diagnostics to shape food security response strategies and policies. Innovative technologies can dramatically accelerate the impact of global food security programs in times of both stress and prosperity by providing accurate risk assessments to build a more resilient future. Global and local actors can collaborate to act with greater precision, speed, and efficiency to mitigate the loss of lives and livelihoods before food security crises escalate.

CSIS is bringing together big thinkers in data analytics and emerging ICT applications, including government representatives and experienced food security program implementors, to chart a way forward using improved technologies. The event will explore how emerging technology applications and approaches can be better utilized for both agricultural development and humanitarian efforts.

We hope you will join us for this strategic and timely discussion of how technological innovation can advance policy and practice to help solve food security challenges.
